The World Wide Web

The World Wide Web started off with very crude beginnings and appeal to a small computer crowd, now people from all walks of life depend on it, enjoy it and use it to change the way they live and love, and work and play and communicate.

  • People can search the web for information they used to have to visit libraries or government offices, cull from magazines or newspapers or a variety of places with most computers and even some smaller devices.
  • People can use email and mailing groups to communicate freely with anyone in the world and sare and ask questions from many people simultaneously worldwide without leaving home.
  • People with specialized info
    • Genealogy
    • personal accounts (blogs, consumer complaints, articles) no longer need to seek publishers and distributors. They publish for nearly nothing and other interested parties search and find it.
  • Banking (checking balances and transactions, transferring money) and collecting and paying bills is now possible worldwide because of the Internet.
  • People buy and sell in global "flea markets" like Ebay, CraigsList, Amazon used/new, Online classifieds, etc.
  • People can shop from online catalogs, find store locations from any computer at home or on the road.
  • Maps and Driving directions are a few clicks away and can be obtained and printed easily
  • Social networks exist for diary/journaling/blogs and dating and shared interests finding old classmates and much more.
  • People can make voice and video calls worldwide without incurring additional fees
  • For those who don't want to install software on their PC or who just travel between PCs frequently they can use online applications to do their work and share/collanborate (or not) with software that need not be installed on PCs at all.
  • Kids and Adults can play 1 player, 2 player or multi-player games of all levels of complexity against the game software and/or other players worldwide.
